Clear skin for the holidays? I exfoliate while regenerating
If you missed the launch of our latest addition, don't panic, you will find everything in the article "Pépite de la Palmeraie - an exfoliant like no other".
Now do you know what an exfoliant is for? what are the different types of exfoliant? How often to use it? which areas? etc... We bring you all the answers and also the tips you need to know to have glowing skin!
What is an exfoliant?
An exfoliant helps to remove all the dead cells accumulated on the surface of the skin which gives that dull and inflamed complexion. Thus, it frees the pores allowing finally a good absorption of your care that you took the trouble to select well. It also helps boost cell renewal and regeneration since the elimination of the surface layer of dead cells will naturally be compensated for by the birth of a new skin layer.
What are the different modes of exfoliation?
Exfoliation can be done using grains from fruit stones or using fruit acids. In this case, you will hear about Alpha Hydroxy Acids or Beta Hydroxy Acids.
In the first case, the exfoliation is done by friction. You must therefore be careful to choose a very fine-grained and, above all, very creamy exfoliant to guard against the abrasive effect.
In the second case, fruit acids (malic or salicylic or lactic acid ...), which can be of natural or synthetic origin, "dissolve" the dead cells which are thus detached. They will be removed during rinsing. It will then be necessary to be very careful in the choice of the exfoliant and it is better to test it several times beforehand because the nature of the acid and its concentration in the product can be very irritating.
Which exfoliation ritual for which type of skin?
The frequency depends on the type of skin and the type of exfoliant. A gentle exfoliant can be used twice a week on non-irritated skin. For delicate and fragile skin, prefer an exfoliation once a month. Make small circular motions on the face, neck and décolleté. Press in moderation, the effectiveness of an exfoliant does not lie in the strength of the movement. You can exert a little pressure on the middle areas but do not exfoliate the eye area, the skin of which is far too fragile.
Also prefer products that provide another benefit at the same time - antioxidant or moisturizer - because once the pores are open, now is the time or never to benefit your skin. Above all, make sure that it is very soft and nourishing so as not to damage your hydrolipidic film, the skin's first protective barrier!
Little tips to get the most out of exfoliation
After exfoliation, the skin is at the peak of its absorption capacity. Take the opportunity to put on a mask or apply a serum concentrated in active ingredients to multiply their action.
Never exfoliate your skin before going out in the sun.
It is ideal to wax after exfoliation as it helps to remove the hair.
For an evening, you can get ready by exfoliating your pretty face, including on the lip contour, with our Pépite de la Palmeraie Face Scrub Nugget of the Palm Grove. This will help your makeup set and your lipstick to stick. Same trick for smokers who will limit the coloring of their lips due to tobacco.
